Bridges and Crowns
Bridges and Crowns
Bridges and crowns are common dental restorative treatments used to repair damaged or missing teeth, restoring both function and aesthetics to the smile. A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are often recommended for teeth with extensive decay, fractures, or after root canal therapy. They can be made from various materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal, or a combination, depending on the patient’s needs and preferences. Bridges, on the other hand, are prosthetic devices used to replace one or more missing teeth. They consist of one or more artificial teeth, called pontics, held in place by dental crowns attached to adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. Bridges not only fill in gaps in the smile but also help maintain proper dental alignment and prevent shifting of surrounding teeth.
